Just 35km from Arusha (75km from Moshi) you can get out of the city and into the bush with this one day trip. Arusha National Park, at 137km², is one of Tanzania’s smaller national parks but still boasts a wide variety of wildlife along with the still active volcano- Mount Meru. For those interested in exploring by foot, this is the only national park in the Northern Circuit where you will be able to walk amongst the wildlife.
Imagine strolling past a group of Grant’s gazelle or coming across a family of Elephants right at the foothills of Tanzania’s 2nd highest peak. Despite its smaller size you will find a variety of interesting landscape features within the park, including the Ngurdoto Crater, Mommela Lakes and Tululusia waterfalls. Good things come in small packages…!!
Pick up from your hotel in Moshi/Arusha and drive to the National Park. Start your experience on the ground with a walking safari, accompanied by your guide and rangers. Whilst passing groups of grazing buffalo you will make your way to the Tululusia Waterfalls. Walking safari lasts for approximately 2 hours. Then return in the car for a game drive to the Mommela lakes where you will enjoy your picnic lunch, next to the hippos. Following lunch you will explore the rest of the park, including the Ngurdoto crater, before heading back to Moshi/Arusha (arrive 5-6pm). Included: Transport in safari land-cruiser with open roof for wildlife viewing, safari guide, lunchbox, water, park entrance and ranger fees. Not included: Tipping, Alcoholic beverages, Sodas.
